Following a successful pilot study in the Hunter, Manning and Central Coast training subregion (see Clinical Teaching Visits: perceptions of educational utility) this RACGP Education Research Grant funded study aims to evaluate the content and the consistency of what occurs during Clinical Teaching Visits (CTVs) for GP registrars of GP Synergy, General Practice Training Tasmania and Northern Territory General Practice Training. It also aims to assess the perceived usefulness of CTVs by registrars and CTV visitors (Medical Educators (MEs) and external visitors).
The study has been severely affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. The changes to CTVs compelled by the pandemic, however, have provided an opportunity to study innovative alternatives to the traditional face-to-face CTV.
Participants will be GP Synergy, GPTT and NTGPT registrars, and corresponding CTV Visitors, who will complete a CTV during 2020-21. Participants will be asked to complete a cross-sectional questionnaire following each CTV.
